Diamonds Made From Rain – Song Spotlight

One of my favorite genres of music is the Blues. I miss the days when I djed straight Blues sets; haven’t done them in a while. My off time is consumed by the genre. As I went through my CD collection, I came across an album I forgot I had. I sadly haven’t listened to it for a while. The album in question was Eric Clapton’s self titled album Clapton, released Sept 2010. I popped it in the cd player and kicked back with my cup of coffee as I snuggled my 1 year old grand daughter.
As I listened to the album, I couldn’t remember why it was not in the forefront area of my collection of Blues CDs. As track 10 “Diamonds Made From Rain” started to play, I smiled to myself, remembering that my son had got this album for me for my birthday. Four years ago, I danced to this song with my now 6 year old grand daughter. Why had I not put this album up in the front of my shelving unit?
A lot of my favorite memories are built upon music; songs become special to me. My grand daughter had begun stroking my cheek with her little hand as we listened to the song…. I hit repeat on it, and as the music started again, she smiled and snuggled deeper into my arms. I was in my “happy place”… Good music, a favorite musician and my grand daughter… Life at it’s finest. After my son in law picked up my grand daughter, I had to search the song on youtube. There was another special someone in my life that I needed to share this song with, my Grampa Max.
Side note: Did you know that scientists have discovered that on certain planets, diamonds really are made from rain?

Copyright: Soundhustler Music, Cantneverdidnothin Music, Wirzma PublishingThe moment’s come and gone
Every memory leaves a trace
All that I’ve come to know
In the lines upon my faceEvery storm that I have turned
Each forgiveness I have earned
Every shame that’s taught me grace
From you I have learnedNo love is lost
No love is lostThat everything is shown to me
I let it wash over me
Like diamonds made of rain
You can find joy inside the painEverything that I’ve endured
For the wisdom of a pearl
I wouldn’t change a thing
You can make diamonds from the rainEvery mile of this road
Every chord that’s struck my soul
You are the melody
That will soothe me ’til I’m oldIf the promises are kept
I’ll waive all of my regrets
I can say I’ve overcome
With you, my heart is openNo love was lost
No love was lostThat everything is shown to me
I let it wash over me
Like diamonds made of rain
You can find joy inside the painEverything that I’ve endured
For the wisdom of a pearl
I wouldn’t change a thing
You can make diamonds from the rain
Beautiful song. I have not heard that song before from Clapton.
