Country Music

A friend of mine asked me the other day, “Bri if you could create your ultimate COUNTRY concert, who would be in it?” I love country music, so I wasn’t shocked at the genre specified… Country Music Rocks!but it made me have to think REALLY HARD! So many great country artists past and present… so little time. I think I have narrowed it down to who would be in my Country Concert of Epicness. 🙂 These artists are not in any particular order. I love them all equally. It was also NOT EASY keeping this list at 10.

Country Music – My Epic Country Lineup

1. George Strait

ALL HAIL THE KING!!  I have been in love with this man since I was 11 years old… My first crush if you will. 😉  I have EVERY album he has put out… I still have the vinyl of his first album Strait Country from 1981.
I am going to share a video from that 1st album.

2. Martina McBride

In my not so humble opinion, she is one of the 2 Queens of Country.  I ADORE her… I have seen her live many times and have never been disappointed.  What you hear folks on the album is what you get live.  Her voice is pure… perfect.  With that, I am gonna give you a live video of a very special song.

3. Don Williams

Are you surprised?  I absolutely LOVE Don Williams.  The video is the song “Imagine That” with Keith Urban from Don’s 2012 album And So It Goes. This album is EPIC.. go buy it! 🙂

4. Merle Haggard

Mighty Merle… for me no epic country line up could be complete with out The Hag.  This is my childhood folks.  I remember from a very young age, my father coming home from work (he was in the US Navy for 30 years.. I am proud of that…)  He would turn on his reel to reel player, sit down take off his boots and I would crawl into his lap. The most special thing at that time for me was sitting with my dad listening to Merle, it meant he was not gone on his many 12 to 18 month long deployments as Seabees often were, especially when they were in an NMCBU.  I have seen Merle many times over the years live, always an epic time.    The video I have picked to share is one that symbolizes what Mighty Merle is to me.  Enjoy! 🙂

5. Brooks and Dunn

I loved this duo, I have never been the same since they “retired”.  Ronnie Dunn is doing some incredible music solo, but it’s just not the same.

6. Blake Shelton

Been a fan for years.  One of my favorite country artists since he first hit the radio.  Yes, I did include him in my post 10 Songs I Love, I love him. What can I say? Here is his ultimate and epic deployment song, in video form.

7. Alison Krauss and Union Station

I love me some Bluegrass! I love me some Alison Krauss and Union Station!  Her voice is like an angel’s.

8. Patty Loveless

I first heard Patty Loveless when she came out to mainstream back in 1986.  Like I said above, I love me some Bluegrass and Patty has the perfect voice for it.  She is the other Queen of Country Music, in my not so humble opinion. I have to say that Patty Loveless is my ULTIMATE Female pipes in this genre.  She has recorded something with everyone in the Country industry known to man.  Take a listen and you will hear why.

9. Emmylou Harris

Another lady I can listen to all day.  She is considered multi genre, from Folk and Bluegrass to Alt- Country and Pop.  What ever you want to niche her in, she’s is one of THE BEST Female musicians ever to bless the Country genre.  Singer, songwriter, guitar player, multi Grammy Award winner… played with everyone known to man…. What else is left to say? Take a listen.

10. Dwight Yoakam

Singer, song writer, actor, director and all around bad ass.   Anyone who knows me knows that this is an artist that I will pull out at any country set, and love to talk about.  Never goes out of style…

There you have it.. My ULTIMATE Country Music line up.  Feel free to share yours below.  If you enjoy the music, visit the artist websites and BUY THEIR MUSIC!!
