Best Female Rock Vocalists

 

Since I have done the Best Rock Male Vocalists, I can’t leave out the ladies. While I will agree there are a lot of incredible Rocking Ladies, these are in my not so humble the best female rock vocalists.

My Criteria for being picked to be put on this list:

  • They have to sound as good live as they do after they come out of the studio.
  • These vocalists are also CURRENTLY recording.
  • As much as I love the deep husky, screaming, they also MUST be able to SING too.

These ladies are not in any particular order of preference.

Best Female Rock Vocalists Currently

  1. Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation –  This was the band that made me fall in love with Gothic and Symphonic Metal back in 1997.   The first song I had heard was “Restless” from their 1997 studio album Enter.
  2. Lzzy Hale of Halestorm –   I have had the privilege of seeing Halestorm live a few times.   Lzzy’s voice blows me away… record, radio or live… This kid can SHRED a song like nobody’s business.  Some of the best pipes of all time, in my not so humble opinion.

    This kid has got some range on her!

  3. Maria Brink of In This Moment- She has a beautiful gritty voice… Kind of has that Janis Joplin goes metal sound. With that said, I would love to hear her sing some blues. That would be bad ass I am sure.

    This video has a full show, “Beautiful Tragedy”, my all time favorite In This Moment Song starts around 13:40. You really should listen to the full set. It’s very good!

  4. Charlotte Wessels of Delain – This woman’s voice gives me the chills.. in a good way.

    And my ALL TIME favorite Delain song… “April Rain”. I only wish I could find a better quality live version, but her voice is still clear as a bell in this.

  5. Tarja Turunen formerly of Nightwish and solo – This woman’s voice brings tears to my eyes…. I adore her.
  6. Alissa White-Gluz of The Agonist – This lady is a little bit of everything rolled up into one little rockin’ bundle. She can scream with the best of them, but she can sing beautiful melodies. Unfortunately, there are no good quality live videos of this band out there. So, I am going to be sharing normal videos. They are pretty bad ass live, go see her!
  7. Floor Jansen formerly of After Forever currently Revamp and fill in for Nightwish – No one can dispute this woman’s vocal talents. If you can, you must be tone deaf. 🙂

  8. Morgan Lander of Kittie – Front woman for an all female metal band. Her voice is very unique, you can not compare her to any other voice in the business… She goes from scream to melody… bad ass all around.
  9. Simone Simons of Epica – Simply incredible!
  10. Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil – The woman that Dave Mustaine calls talented and heavy enough. I agree.

    Those are talented ladies. I have heard you play them in your sets before. I love the way their voice can vary to their tunes.

    Amazing List All These ladies have amazing Voices and ranges the songs they sing are beautiful, I enjoy listening to them when you play them when your dj
